English Learners in San
Luis Obispo County
English learner students are learning to listen, speak, read,
and write in English, where English is not their first language.
In 2009, according to the California Department of Education,
San Luis Obispo County had 5,132, or 14.8% English learner students.
The state of California has a total of 1,515,074 (24.2%) English
learners. In San Luis Obispo County, the number of Enlgish learners
is increasing.
