Technology Certification Guidelines Align with new Teacher Technology Proficiencies

The Region 8 California Technology Assistance Project (CTAP), Advisory Committee and the San Luis Obispo County Certification Advisory Committee have been statewide leaders in the implementation of technology proficiencies for all k-12 educators. During the past year, these committees have developed new proficiencies, which align with the new standards for pre-service teachers approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).

It is important to note that the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education will accept portfolios for certification under the former guidelines through September 15, 2000. After September 15, 2000 the new proficiencies will be required..

San Luis Obispo County Office of Education
Technology Certification Program

Introduction

Utilizing the teacher and student performance standards written by CTC (California Teacher Credentialing), and on the direction given by the San Luis Obispo County Certification Advisory Committee and Region 8 CTAP, the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education (SLOCOE) oversees a certification program that is cost effective, workable, manageable, and is based on performance and proficiency. SLOCOE is providing this program to help school districts define technology literacy for teachers. By utilizing proficiency levels, the SLOCOE Certification Program provides a baseline for organizing and promoting technology training in the San Luis Obispo County area.
