Technology Certification

How the Program was Developed
Given approval by SLOCOE and the SLO CTAP Advisory Committee, this program was implemented in three stages.

Phase I

  • Identified the Technology Certification Advisory Committee
  • Advisory Committee met to:
    • clarify CTC Performance Standards
    • solidify Portfolio Standards
    • solidify Certification Documentation
    • set standards to certify educators at Mentor/Leadership levels

Phase II

  • Districts recommended Level Three Mentor Leadership candidates.
  • Level Three candidates were trained in Level One and Level Two Standards.
  • Level Three candidates demonstrated their proficiencies.
  • Level Three candidates assembled their portfolios and submitted them to the Advisory Committee.
  • Advisory Committee reviewed portfolios of Mentor/Leadership candidates.

Phase III (Currently)

  • Level Three certified trainers lead technology inservices in their respective school districts (or other school districts in the county utilizing the Level One and/or Level Two standards.
  • Trainers assess educators who meet Level One and/or Level Two proficiencies.
  • Level One and Level Two candidates apply for certificate(s) from SLOCOE through a Level Three certified trainer.
  • Level Three certified trainers submit applications and portfolios (on request) to SLOCOE for review.
  • Members of the Advisory Committee periodically certify new or renewing Level Three Mentor/Leadership portfolios.
  • Members of the Advisory Committee periodically review and revise the Certification program.
