It is important for all foster and homeless youth to be aware of the resources available to them. There are many agencies in San Luis Obispo County that exist to serve foster youth.

Every school district in the county has a homeless youth and foster youth liaison. This is the person that your parents, guardians or social worker will contact for education related questions or to work out any difficulties. Click here for a list of liasons.

Help for Youth with Uncertain Housing

If you don't have a permanent place to stay... If you are lving with friends... If your housing is temporary... We can help. If you are a student and your housing situation is uncertain, temporary or you are living with friends, you may qualify for services. We can help with: transportation to school, school supplies, free lunch at school. Call or e-mail for more information:

SLO Independent Living Program

The San Luis Obispo Independent Living Program works with youth 16-21 years of age currently or formerly in the foster care system. The program empowers youth through life skills education, supportive services, advocacy, and community collaboration. Through these services young adults can develop community and lifelong connections.

California Youth Connection

California Youth Connection (CYC) is a statewide youth run organization for former and current foster youth ages 14 to 24. CYC uses the voice of foster youth to advocate for change in the foster care system.
