The Human Resources Department
is part of the Administration Division and the Chief Human Resources Officer reports
directly to the Superintendent.
The Human Resources Department is responsible
for managing the personnel function for all staff with the San Luis Obispo County
Office of Education (SLOCOE), the fingerprinting program for school employees,
community based programs, and for issuing and monitoring credentials authorizing
work within the public education system in San Luis Obispo County. Additionally,
the Human Resources Department supports school districts within San Luis Obispo
County with any personnel assistance they may require.
The SLOCOE Human Resources Department issues credentials for all those working in public education in San Luis Obispo County as well as for general members of the public who wish to obtain a credential. The department works with the California Commission for Teacher Credentialing in issuing these credentials in accordance with California State law. Additionally, the SLOCOE Human Resources Department monitors credentials for all school districts in the county to make teachers and administrators working in public education have current credentials and are working within their credentials area of authorization.
The
SLOCOE Human Resources Department fingerprints all potential school district employees,
volunteers for school district programs, various youth groups in the county, and
general members of the public needing fingerprint services. There are two locations
for obtaining fingerprinting services: Atascadero (8550 Morro Rd. in Atascadero) and the SLOCOE office. Each
year SLOCOE fingerprints over 5,000 people.
The Human Resources Department holds quarterly Human Resources Forum meetings
for all personnel staff in school districts within the
county. These meetings provide the opportunity to find
solutions for problems and to share expertise with peers
in the personnel field.
SLOCOE Personnel Functions
The Human Resources Department for the San Luis Obispo County Office is committed to serving all children within San Luis Obispo County by ensuring there are qualified and professional teachers and classified staff in front of all students every day of their school career. SLOCOE Human Resources exists to serve SLOCOE staff and the surrounding school districts in providing this service.
The SLOCOE Human Resources Department
works with the Personnel Commission in hiring, promoting, and retaining the most
qualified staff for non-teaching positions. The Personnel Commission operates
within the merit system as developed through the Education Code for the State
of California. There are three Personnel Commissioners.
Meetings are typically held on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
