The SLOCOE Clear Administrative Services Credential (CASC) program has identified Authentic Leadership, Systemic Coherence, and Improvement Science as three areas that will enable our new administrators to influence meaningful and sustainable improvements as educational leaders.
Authentic leaders are honest, transparent, and trusted. They engender trust, engagement, and innovation within their organization’ culture. Leadership coach Henna Inam describes some practices for authentic leaders in this interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWucCWxMByY.
Michael Fullan and his peers identify four driving forces that must be in place in order to create and maintain a coherent educational system:
- Focused Direction
- Collaborative Cultures
- Deep Learning
Researchers at the Carnegie Foundation advocate that the key to improvement in educational systems begins with three key questions:
- What is the specific problem we are trying to solve?
- What change might we introduce and why?
- How will I know whether or not the change is actually an improvement?
These leadership philosophies are coupled with coaching by local educational leaders, guest speakers from throughout the community and collaborative professional learning through a cohort model. SLOCOE is pleased to offer the CASC program in an effort to recruit, empower and retain our best educational leaders across San Luis Obispo County.
