Migrant Education Program – Region XVIII

The Migrant Education Program, Region XVIII, for which our office is the Local Education Agency, operates in 18 school districts in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. The program provides 2,160 migrant students and families with supplemental instruction, health support and referral, and parent involvement services that supplement existing programs at district school sites.

On July 1, 2017, the operation of the Region XVIII Migrant Education Program transitioned to the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education (SLOCOE) from the Santa Barbara County Education Office (SBCEO).  A mutually supportive year-long transition process will continue to ensure that our migratory students and families continue to receive exceptional services. The transition will be complete as of June 30, 2018.
