Tobacco-Use Prevention Education (TUPE)
The California Department of Education provides Tobacco-Use Prevention Education (TUPE) funding for the SLO County TUPE Consortium to provide education for young people to make healthful decisions through evidence-informed tobacco-use prevention instruction, youth development, intervention, reinforcement activities for tobacco-free school environments, and cessation programs.
The SLO County TUPE Consortium supports students in grades 6th through 12th at twelve school districts across the county. The TeachVapeFree.org website provides educators, parents and community members information to help with youth vaping, tobacco and cannabis use. The LiveVapeFree.org website provides students the opportunity to get the facts about the effects of addiction and vaping during youth development.
The school community, parents and families can play an important role in providing social and environmental support to prevent and intervene in the use of tobacco.
