The CA Blueprint for Environmental Literacy defines an environmentally literate person as one who “has the capacity to act individually and with others to support ecologically sound, economically prosperous, and equitable communities for present and future generations. Through lived experiences and education programs that include classroom-based lessons, experiential education, and outdoor learning, students will become environmentally literate, developing the knowledge, skills, and understanding of environmental principles to analyze environmental issues and make informed decisions.”

Blueprint for Action for Equitable K-12 Science Education in California
This Blueprint offers a starting point for systemic K–12 science education reform in California by identifying state-specific priorities for enacting equitable science education and providing a series of actions for implementation.
Ten Strands brings people and resources together to promote equity, inclusion, and cultural relevance while building partnerships and strengthening systems. By working with educators and community partners, we help ensure teachers have access to quality materials and professional learning that connect environmental themes to engaging, real-world learning for students.
This website provides a variety of resources for teachers and students, including lesson plans, interactive apps, videos, and activities for learners of all ages.
The California Science Project (CSP) is a state-wide network of university-based programs that provide professional development for pre-K through college science teachers to improve science education for all students. CSP programs focus on deepening teachers’ science content knowledge and instructional strategies, creating professional learning communities, developing teacher leaders, and providing research-based technical assistance to schools and districts.
