Across San Luis Obispo County, exceptional public education is powered by individuals who show up every day with passion, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to students. On October 19, the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education (SLOCOE) joined regional educational partners at Cuesta College to celebrate that dedication at the annual County Employees of the Year ceremony.

The event brought together educators, administrators, families, and community leaders to recognize 26 nominees and award recipients representing school districts, charter schools, Cuesta College, and SLOCOE. Each honoree was commended for fostering student achievement, driving institutional excellence, and creating lasting positive impacts across local school communities.

Top Countywide Honors Announced

The spotlight of the evening shone on two standout professionals whose daily contributions reflect the very best of San Luis Obispo County education:

  • County Teacher of the Year: Francesca Ardizzone, Paulding Middle School (Lucia Mar Unified School District)

Ardizzone was honored for her exceptional ability to inspire students in the classroom, cultivate a culture of curiosity, and lead collaborative educational initiatives within the Lucia Mar community.

  • Classified Employee of the Year: Jared Coburn, Morro Bay High School (San Luis Coastal Unified School District)

Coburn received countywide recognition for his vital role behind the scenes, ensuring Morro Bay High School operates smoothly while creating a supportive, welcoming, and dependable environment for students and colleagues alike.

Both honorees embody the deep care and professionalism that make local campuses places where young people can thrive.

Community Support in Action

The celebration was made possible through the generous sponsorship of the Educational Employees Credit Union (EECU).
