SLOCOE Hosts Cybersecurity Bootcamp

SLOCOE hosted a hands-on Cybersecurity Bootcamp for area IT professionals at Rancho El Chorro. The bootcamp showed participants how hackers are able to gain access to our networks and how to assess our networks for vulnerabilities. At the end of the training participants demonstrated their newly acquired skills by gaining access to a computer in a Security Challenge.

This one day course was provided by K12HSN’s Technical Assistance & Professional Development Program and the Cybersecurity Education Program (CEP). Training was conducted by Aaron Barnett, Director of Information Systems at Moreno Valley Unified and Derek Bergman, Network Manager at Moreno Valley. IT staff from San Luis Obispo, Monterey and Santa Barbara counties were in attendance.
